What is the 2012 summer olympics gold medal made of ?

The 2012 Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 27th, to be held in London England, where some of the worlds top athletes will be competing for the top price; however none of them will win Gold! Not even 8 karat or 9 karat which is considered gold in the UK, but not according to US standards.

Four thousand seven hundred medals in total and none of the are really gold.

The top prize; gold medal- consist of 92.5% silver, 6.16% copper and only 1.34% gold.

The second prize; silver medals- are made of 92.5% silver, and 7.5% copper.

The 3rd prize; Bronze medals composed of 97% copper, 2.5% zinc, and 0.5% tin.

The biggest Rip-off is the top prize gold medal, good thing for endorsement deals! It has the same purity as 925 sterling silver only difference of other alloys and the gold layers on top.
The best value is the second prize silver.
